This. I’m an old dad. I realized two years ago that to keep up with my pre-teens I had to change my lifestyle. For me that meant cutting out alcohol, not eating processed foods, avoiding sugar, reduced caffeine, way more protein and doing calisthenics. I sleep well and I have energy. I just have to keep this up for 10 more years when my youngest will be 21, then I can die. ;-)

Same here in almost all ways, except the caffeine. What was the benefit there? My hot pots keep me going. Once my wife hits menopause I might also consider TRT. I'm almost certainly not low by the standards of the average American, let alone for my age, but it's gonna keep falling as I age and wouldn't mind that extra oomph.

Previously, when my head touched the pillow I was asleep. Two years ago I noticed that wasn’t happening and I would wake frequently through the night. I cut back my caffeine intake and my restored my sleep. Without knowing the physiological reason I assume my metabolism is slowing down and I had to alter my lifestyle to fit to it, hence my strict diet now. The calisthenics has been awesome for me. I love the progression moves to unlock skills and levelling up. Pushing weights just to stack more plates wasn’t motivation for me - cali is. It replaces my caffeine.

As for menopause, or more accurately, perimenopause, my wife has been in that for years. (She’s an old mom) She started HRT about 6 months ago and it has been amazing. She no longer wants to murder me or anyone else that irritates her.

Yip peri is also where we're at right now. Still trying and hoping for another kiddo. Glad to hear it can last for years at least there's a bit more chance.

It just so happened that Microsoft sent an email today to our M365 tenant administrators that SMS and voice for 2FA is being removed 1-Feb-2027 and that automatic enrollment to passkeys starts 1-Sep-2026. Bring on the passkey overlords. Although, LLMs say that passkeys are superior to passwords since it includes a public/private key setup with the private key saved to a device that requires a PIN or biometric to access the private key.

You can’t use any random password-manager with passkey support.

I use Bitwarden for everything and have to have MS Authenticator installed just for this 1 login.

The use of a passkey doesn’t require Authenticator or other OTP app. Gemini said that an OTP app can be used as a vault for the passkey, but it’s not the mechanism that permits the check of the private key. Rather, that’s the PIN or biometric. Now, perhaps I don’t understand your statement and you can clarify if that’s the case.

Just avoid these applications or forge ahead disregarding the possible early burnout of their storage? They must use external storage as the burner SSD.

You don't need to be superstitious here: disk activity, including writes in particular, can be measured. E.g. `iostat` or `vmstat` on Linux.

It's a very conservative warning. The application does not perform writes, so the application doesn't actually wear your SSD at all. The rest is just application-independent general hygiene.

Why is just having the web page loaded in a browser's (Firefox) tab ramping up the iGPU on my computer to 75%? The GPU load is consistently 75% whether I'm drawing or just have an untouched web page.

MS Edge has the same behavior with GPU loading regardless of drawing or not, but the GPU is at 50%.

Did you read the article? Each demo canvas is interactive and running multiple shaders per frame. They could probably reduce power consumption by having a play button on each demo canvas, or pausing the simulation after a sufficient amount of time has passed and things have stabilized, but yeah. The reason your GPU is being used is because it's being used.

I don't disagree with your conclusion but the comparison of max bandwidth between the two SoCs is not enough. Neither of them will use all of that bandwidth doing AI work because the GPU will be compute limited. That's why dedicated GPUs perform so significantly better without having significantly higher bandwidth.

The question I answered was "Would Windows ARM performance be similar for those cpu?" and the answer is, no, because the RAM bandwidth for ARM SoC computers for Windows, primarily Snapdragon X1E and X2E is half to quarter that of the M1 Max.

Same thing applies. Neither CPU would be able to fully saturate the available memory bandwidth so comparing by bandwidth alone is not accurate.
