I have no recollection of ever hearing about this problem before. It doesn't sound like it had an army of people attempting it but cool nonetheless that we found the solution.
And because driving is slower and less convenient than public transit there. Seriously in Berlin, Paris or London I would prefer the public transit options in nearly all of my trips.
Diesel increased in price because truck drivers couldn't afford not to drive their truck. The cartel as well as the distributors are extracting all the value they can at every step. That is why diesel has increased so much.
I can't help but feel that every 1% improvement over a benchmark from new releases of flagship LLMs isn't really that impressive anymore. To some extent it feels like LLM improvements is slowing down significantly despite increasing resources being spent on them.
The people promising AGI just 6 months ago are now more and more quiet about the possibility and rightfully so. LLMs alone are most likely not the path to AGI.
The Opus moment in November felt very different but despite that, a handful things did not woork well with Opus in November and I tried them last week and they now just work.
In parallel GPT-6 and Fable 5.1 show significant skill improvements in 3D modeling and Astra shows significant progress in computer use.

This is how I feel too, wandering into some of these threads. Sure the damn things aren't perfect yet, but people act as if they are incapable of doing anything, or no more worth the hype than Bootstrap?? (the latter comes from this very thread!)
When Anthropic gave out some usage, I was able to do a lot more and it felt differently than when you always have to think about limits.
I now spend $90 this month and do even more now (privat). It might really be a big bias of these people either not spending any time on it or just doing very small experiments and immediadly being put of by some random issue.
I get excited about this but that's because I want this... not because I need it.
What I actually need might be less of an iPhone and more of a nano than a duo. Something small and portable that doesn't make me spend every spare second on the phone.
It has become easier and easier to upgrade Rails over time. 2 of my apps were running 2 versions back and the most difficult thing was finding the time to update it. There was one gem that was deprecated but the replacement was 10 lines of code. Overall I'd say that Rails is such a robust choice nowadays.

Yeah, if victims can't keep a cool head and properly do all their admin just because they are in a very stressful, perhaps even dangerous, situation, they should just accept the responsibility for being so lax instead of expecting any sort of empathy.

how is anyone else at fault here? If someone is ignorant of the capabilities and controls afforded to them for expensive, high ticket, important items such as vehicles ... they don't really have anyone else to blame except them, and perhaps oversight from the designer or vendor of the product.
So many stories, many people believe are true and build whole religions around, are really just repeated stories with many details changed to fit the local culture and traditions.
It's crazy so many of the world's politics and problems stem from what might actually just be the same story said in a different way... or even of a fan fiction on top of existing fiction.

I had never heard of raglan, but started commenting about how this relates to Joseph Campbell's work. Turns out that the wiki article heavily compares raglan and Campbell. I look forward to looking into this all some more.

I mostly agree, but the "details changed" part implies that there was actual connection between the societies and one borrowed/modified the other's stories.
That surely happened sometimes. But, there's plenty of evidence of very similar stories springing up in completely disconnected parts of the world. The explanation is that they come from something innate to the human experience.
Also, just because they're "stories" doesn't mean they don't have profound insight and value.
Joseph Campbell did tremendous work in presenting all of this. He had deep reverence for it all, not just despite, but likely because of, the deep similarities across the world.
But he was very clear about the fact that everyone's fighting over what to call bread. They miss the point entirely. But so do atheist-type people who write it all off based on literal, logical readings - they miss the metaphor, and therefore the value.
He would say things like "atheists would sit down at a restaurant, look at the menu, then start eating the menu" - mistaking the symbol for the reference. Or seeing a road sign "welcome to city" and thinking "ah, here we are".
Everyone - "believers", atheists and anywhere in between - has a tremendous amount to learn and gain if they can learn to read it all as great literature, poetry etc...
Yes. And everyone that's pointed it out in the past go shouted down for one reason or another. Sending oil down south and buying refined gasoline back is asinine. Same with raw timber to buy back finished products. And now that the national-security chickens have come home to roost, it's waaaaaaay too late.
